On April 3rd Lincoln McManus was out enjoying the Oregon sunshine with his dad, that same day Lincoln experienced an accident. As a result of the accident Lincoln experienced extensive injuries.  Lincoln was life flighted to Randall Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Lincoln has a long road to recovery and will require extensive physical therapy. Lincoln’s road to recovery will include many trips from Corvallis to Portland for his parents to be there with him. It will also include numerous prosthetics through the course of his life. The goal of this campaign is to raise funds to help cover the cost of medical care both current and future. We hope to raise enough that both Lincoln’s parents won’t have to worry about work or bills but rather being there for their son on his road to recovery.  Lincoln is a strong active little seven year old boy who shares his mother's love of hockey and piano. Lincoln’s love of hockey runs deep and his favorite NHL team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. The dream is that one day Lincoln will once again be back on the ice.

Dear all who have kindly donated to this GoFundMe page,

I have just paid Lincoln’s life-flight helicopter bill. Initially more than $67,000, my final balance due was $27,300. This reduced figure would still have been a significant financial burden, and would have required my taking out a loan or setting up a payment plan (resulting in a larger total paid, in the end). Because of the incredible generosity of family and friends, coworkers, and compassionate strangers who heard about Lincoln’s accident, I have been able to pay this bill in-full. Thank you so very much. I can now continue to focus on Lincoln’s ongoing recovery, without this financial worry.

Lincoln has just spent an exciting week at Shriners’ Hospital in Portland, OR, where he got to trial his prosthesis and where he underwent intensive PT. The ‘delivery date’ of his official prosthesis (with sharks on it, hence its nickname, ‘Sharktesis’) is on Thursday, August 3rd, which will be 4 months to the day of the accident that changed his life (and mine, and his dad’s) forever. It has been so heartwarming to see his excitement about “walking again,” and his “new foot.” He has a great deal of PT ahead of him, but his high-energy-level and fitness mean that he’s doing very well. Although my financial responsibility for this prosthesis would normally have been about $1100, this amount has been waved this time around. Lincoln will need a new prosthesis every 9-12 months (due to the speed at which children grow), and his financial responsibility will be reassessed each time. When he’s an adult, wear-and-tear will require a new prosthesis every 3-5 years.

Once again, I want to thank everyone, from the bottom of my heart, for the considerable generosity shown to Lincoln and to our family. Thank you for the support and love and encouragement – it means the world to us!

Thank you so much, Raquel. I'm so honored by your creation of this page. Thank you to everyone. It's all incredibly overwhelming right now, and I can't tell you how much we appreciate your love and support. Lincoln is incredibly brave and strong and will be alright, despite the long and challenging road ahead.
