hi. have no idea if you are open to this but if so check out the site: Rudyhunter.com ---there are a number of free things particularly for animals as well as folks. so glad to hear that your companion had a successful operation! Sending you all the best from clear over here in norway. (Sometimes money is only an alternate for showing honest concern.)
Just really God In Action to come across this - and to see people rally together is incredible. Giving some of the proceeds to charity shows you are a first-class man. Although I don't think it would be a bad thing to stash away some for a rainy day considering you've had a tough time. Thank you for your years of service. God bless you and love to Pepper.
God bless you both!!! :) A righteous man regards the life of animals" - PROVERBS 12:10; "If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion & pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men" - FRANCIS OF ASSISI; "I hope to make people realize how totally helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting as a child must that we will be kind and take care of their needs...(They) are an obligation put on us, a responsibility we have no rights to neglect, nor to violate by cruelty...." - JAMES HARRIOT; "The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated" - MAHATMA GANDHI
Pepper's surgery was s success. She has a long 16 week recovery now. But if all goes as planned, she will recover back to 100%. That is all thanks to you wonderful human beings. I can't believe how many of you came to my aid when I needed you the most. Or rather when Pepper needed you most. I posted an after surgery video on "lukehuntpepperdonationfund" FB page. Or on katu.com. we will keep updating it until a little while after her 16 week recovery. So please keep checking jn on the page. You all deserve to see this all the way through. Thank you all again.
Hello, I hope you are fine
I am a veteran myself, and think dogs are the greatest thing on earth, so I'm so happy to hear your story has a happy ending!! Praying for a speedy recovery for your baby girl!
Congrats Luke & Pepper! Wishing you a speedy recovery! :-)
So happy we could help you with getting Pepper back in action. I worked with a lot of Army guys in the Corps, and have nothing but respect for your service and sacrifice. And I think it shows your character to donate back to the hospital that did the surgery. Well played Sir!
She has a standard round dog bed. There are more comfortable beds out there for sure. But the one she has can not be called uncomfortable. Why do you ask?
Thank you for your service to our country. We live in Wilsonville and are wondering if Pepper has a comfy bed for recovering and lounging. God bless you both:)
Thank You everybody for your continued support. Pepper was dropped off at the VCA for her surgery. You will all be able to watch her tonight at 4pm (pacific) on KATU Channel 2. Please tune in and follow along in Peppers surgery and watch her progress. For all you Pepper fans out there, tonight you will get to see more of Peppers personality and her unconditional love towards myself and my children. Thank you all, I love all you and so does Pepper (peppy).
This story touched me as my dad is also a vet....Warmed my heart to see so much LovE!!!.May your.dog have speedy recovery.Best wishes to you.and Thank You.for all you done for all of us and our.country.May god bless you each day..
The amount of live being shown to Luke and Pepper is overwhelming!!! Every single person that has donated and is continuing to do so is an angel in disguise. pepper is Luke's service dog but loved by every single person in the family. I love you Luke! I am thinking of pepper as she goes in to have her leg fixed! Thank ion again to all of you angels!
I just had a really crappy day until I read this story. I donated ten dollars. I am on Social Security and have barely enough but this made my day to help and be a part of a great thing and helping a fellow veteran. Thanks for your service to this country and thanks for making my day brighter. I wish I could do more.
My prayers are with Pepper for a a speedy recovery. I saw the story on the news last night and it made me so sad. It's nice to hear that folks stepped up to help a solider in need. Service dogs are very important to help soldiers with PTSD. Thanks KATU for sharing this story.
Hello everyone! This is Lucas Pepper's Dad. I am here right now to just put a post on here to tell you all personally I truly love everyone of you that has donated money to help my FUR-CHILD Pepper. I have been so overwhelmed with this situation that I am speechless. Now for those of you that know me, know that me being speechless is a rare event...lol! I just saw the post from Amy McIlvenna, and my most sincere thank you to you....SISTER! Seriously it makes me tear up seeing a fellow soldier that I don't know or haven't deployed with, acknowledge the unspoken bond between us. To answer your question about the left over funds. I will be donating a portion back to the hospital where Pepper is being treated. They have a fund that one of the doctors started to help people who can't afford emergency vet services. The fund didn't have money to help me with Pepper, so I am going to make sure that the next person that goes into the VCA Northwest Animal Hospital for help and cannot afford the treatment will have that help that all of you have extended to me. Another portion will be donated to Wounded Warrior/Disabled Vets service dogs. My NCO (Sergeant) in my platoon that was blown up with me. Sergeant Vernon Williams didn't come back to combat due to his extensive TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and PTSD. When he arrived home he couldn't afford to pay for his service dog, and was suffering because of it. One of my platoon mates mother raised money and tried to start a fund to help Service men and women pay for their Service animals. So I want to help those Service Men and Woman get their animals. So in closing thank you all for everything, and I encourage you all to continue to spread this story and continue to help find donations. Because it may not go to Peppers surgery because we met our goal (thank god) but you will be donating money to the same cause, and will help me, help others in the same predicament. Thank You, SPC. Lucas (Doc) Hunt & Lady Pepper III (Peppy) Hunt P.S. Aunt Cindy I love you so much too!
I hope that the money that is left over will be shared with other service animals in need. Good luck to the both of you! I am proud to call you brother!
Wow it is over powering the love and support that everyone is giving to my Nephew Luke and his best friend Pepper. Luke I will be praying for Pepper tomorrow through her surgery. I love you so much!
Praying for you and Pepper and hope she has a speedy recovery. Thanks again for your service..
Seeing the response on here and the funds raised makes me feel a bit better about humans. It's nice to see the GOOD that can happen.
