Save Charlie the Pug
Charlie was rescued by a good friend when he was just a puppy. His breeder had dumped him at a Veterinary office to be put down because of his missing eye and not being able to make money off of him. It was love at first sight for my friend, who has the biggest heart and has rescued her fair share of animals and nursed them back to health.
Unfortunately, Charlie developed a condition called a liver shunt where the liver can not process toxins and ammonia. In addition, he had also been diagnosed with kidney issues prior, hence draining funds by the time his liver shunt was diagnosed. A specialist needs to perform the surgery and requires money upfront at an estimated five to six thousand dollars. This money is just not available for her.
I turned to Gofundme as a gift for dear Charlie who has become a much loved pug in our numerous pug communities and online groups. My heart breaks for a woman who is too proud to ask for help, but is desperate not to let a happy animal die. While there are great risks involved in the surgery, she is determined to give him a chance because an animal diagnosed with a liver shunt, is destined to die without surgery.
Surgery and his patient info can be confirmed at Sage Animal Hospital in Dublin CA. for your peace of mind.
Please consider helping - it would mean so much, no matter what size donation you can make. We thank you deeply.
Tomorrow is Charlie's surgery. If you would take a moment to send out positive energy and prayers for him, it would be wonderful. His family could use some strength as well so please keep them in your thoughts.
I will be sending out an update by the end of the weekend, letting you know his status.
Again, words can not express the gratitude towards you all. It has been one of the most heartwarming experiences of a lifetime. Thank you.
Such an amazing campaign and I'd like to thank you all as well as thanking gofundme for allowing us this incredible resource. There are a few updates I'd like to give you at this time.
Several more pug pages, rescues and twitter accounts with massive following have helped spread our news. I would like to acknowledge Chubbs the Wampug, Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles, Kiko's Place (Pug Tails) Minnie and Max, and The Barktastic Four. I would also like to thank the incredible amount of anonymous donors who have reached out in good faith. Every single one of our supporters and people who have shared our link have huge hearts and our utmost appreciation.
An increase by $300 has been added to our goal. As stated on Charlie's page, the surgery estimate was between five and six thousand dollars. Three hundred was added should it be on the high range but also to cover processing & transaction fees. That being said, if we raise over the amount needed, then Charlie's mother would like to pay it forward by giving any remainder to a needy pug here on gofundme. Presently there are 36 pugs in dire need on gofundme and an update will be sent if a recipient needs to be chosen from our campaign.
As a reminder, surgery is scheduled on October 19th. Funds will be collected up until the 18th, and a withdrawl prior to that to get money into the appropriate account. All donations and shares of our link are welcomed and encouraged until that date. And please, feel free to contact me with questions or confirm the surgery with Sage Animal Hospital in Dublin CA. 925-891-7839, patient: Charlie.
Thank you!!!!! & Pug Hugs!!!! & Please Share!
I failed to mention that the surgery date is October 19th. I will post updates and feel free to contact me with any questions. In the meantime, please keep sharing our link - that helps so much. THANK YOU & Pug Hugs!
How old is Charlie??
I'm am so happy to wake up overnight and see Charlie is so close to his goal! I'm glad to be apart of the proud mother of Charlie, and please keep us updated on his condition. He has many more years on this earth
I am blown away by the response to Charlie's need. There are times when all you hear is the negative. What a refreshing this is! To see strangers and friends alike, come together over the love of animals. One funny, funny looking, sweet little breed of dog. My heart is smiling. Thank you all for your generosity and my renewed faith in human kind.
My prayers are with Charlie, my Orie is also in need of a liver shunt surgery so I know how much this means to him and his family. Orie wandered from home (got out when a snake got in) and I'm looking for him, he is a black pug. When you love these little guys so much the efforts are worth everything. Speedy recovery, please keep us posted on how things go. Orie will be getting the surgery in Gainesville FL. I heard this is not a really common ailment for pugs.
This is amazing! Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared their stories! Pug hugs to all of you
