On Wednesday morning September 27, Sheena woke up not feeling well.  She was sweating, nauseous and had severe back pain.  She woke Ryan up and called an ambulance.  She was taken to Worthington where they determined she need to have a heart catheterization in Sioux Falls.  She was flown there.  They were unsuccessful in doing the cath and Sheena's heart stopped.  They performed CPR and she was taken directly to the operating room.  They  bypassed the artery that was blocked and she was taken back to her room on a balloon pump.  As the day progressed, Sheena did not so the doctors wanted more intervention.  This would require her to be transferred to the University of Minnesota.  Sheena had to go back to the OR once more to remove some excess blood in her chest and they put a bigger catheter into her heart for the transport.  They finally were in flight by 10:30 pm.  Sheena arrived at the U of M a little after 1 am.  She is now on ECMO and will be for probably a few days to let her heart rest and heal. She is also on a ventilator to breathe for her.  She is doing as well as can be expected but this is going to be a long haul.  Ryan is going to need all the love and support he can get.
