Casey 28 years young....beautiful, kind and full of life. Loving wife and mother of two children, Aiden (age 4) and Aria (age 2). She is everything I dreamed of being and more, my beautiful sweet daughter! January 31st, 2019. I will never forget that day... she called me from the doctors. My heart sank as she cried. It was the one, the one we read about.... Triple Negative, not only TNBC but stage four, metastatic. “ Don’t go on the internet reading “ they said. But of course we did. It has been everything that we read and more. Triple Negative Breast Cancer is the most difficult cancer to treat. Its very strong and quickly becomes immune to chemotherapy. In February, 2019 she began her first chemo treatment. After just two months, it had shrunk her tumors by 50%. We all thought for sure that this chemo was going to work. She was going to defy the odds. If anyone could beat this it would be her. Shortly after, the chemo stopped working and Casey heard the words “progression” for the first time. It’s was ok though, that was just round one. She’s a champion and she will win. Full of faith and determination she moved on. Hoping to find the miracle, the one to end this nightmare. Unfortunately, cancer has been a lot stronger than we thought. Since June of 2019 Casey has had 2 more failed chemo therapies and more progression. Multiple nodules have developed on her lungs and a tumor on her liver. Metastasis to the brain also creeped in along the way. One month of whole brain radiation followed and she pulled through, still smart as a whip! (That’s my girl! ) Through all these hurdles she continues to fight. Determined to raise her children with her husband, Kevin. To live her “best life “ as she says quite often. Casey will begin another chemo soon. Her doctors believe if this chemo doesn’t work, Casey is looking at 6 months left to live..... We say no way, not going to happen!Something must be out there. Miracles can and do happen!! We pray and search every day. I will never, ever give up on her. She is my world, just as her children are to her. One day as we cried together she told me something. A dream that she has. This is why I am here; writing her story. Tears streaming down and knife in my chest, this is the hardest thing I have ever written. She said “ mom; If I could have one thing before I go, it would be my forever home”. “What do you mean? “ I asked. “ And no your not gonna die” in my next breath. “I just want to know that my kids will always have a home. One house, forever. No moving around, like we had to. I could set it up, organize the closets, decorate their rooms. I just want to know that they will have everything they need, just in case.” Lets inspire her to push through each round of the fight. Together, we can make her dream become real. Please, spread the word. Any chance of finding a cure would be greatly appreciated. We all will be in your corner!!! #caseysfight
