MA Helps Animals Affected by Harvey
Even though we live in Massachusetts, our hearts are broken watching the devastation so many familes in Houston are enduring, but we cannot forget about the animals who are also victims. The dogs and cats left behind in homes and stranded outside in the flooded areas to fend for themselves need to be rescued and relocated out of the affected areas. There are two reputable, non-profit, no-kill shelters in the region that are working with flooded shelters in Houston to transport as many animals as possible to safety. That is only part of the challenge -- the animals then need to be medically treated, cared for, fed, and ultimately placed in a forever home. The shelters we will be donating towards are · Austin Pets Alive https://www.austinpetsalive.org APA has already transported over 300 animals to its facility from the Houston area and is leading the coordination effort between shelters that need to evacuate and individuals who can transport animals to safety. · Animal Rescue New Orleans https://animalrescueneworleans.org/about ARNO has begun collecting donations to help aid in the relief efforts as Hurricane Harvey causes catastrophic flooding throughout south eastern Texas. Many animal shelters throughout western Louisiana have also began evacuating their animals to ARNO in preparation for flooding. I have a personal connection to ARNO, as I have volunteered there for the past 3 years and have seen first hand the wonderful work this all-volunteer shelter does. Please give what you can to help in this time of crisis to ensure that no stranded animals are left behind. No amount too small . . . every dollar counts!
The funds raised from this campaign will be split equally between APA and ARNO. To accomplish this, I will temporarily transfer the money to my personal banking account, which will allow me to use those funds to obtain cashier's checks for APA and ARNO.
On or about Sept 11, 2017, I will send the cashier's checks to those two organizations.
Any future monies raised through these funds will be dispersed in a similar manner.
