Olivia Apa is a special child with a special heart. She was born with a Congenital Heart Defect (HLHS) and after 4 open heart surgeries, Olivia needed a new heart. At 2 years old, Olivia finally recieved the gift of life!
Unfortantly, Olivia became sick and was diagnosed with PTLD (Post Transplant Lymphproliferative Disease) in January 2016. PTLD is a risk that comes along with organ transplant. It's a form of Non-Hodgkin's Lyphoma.
After 6 months of treatment Olivia went into remission but had a lot of complications from the Chemo therapy. She required a year of weekly infusions to help her very weakened immune system.
Sadly, Olivia has relapsed. Her PTLD has returned and she has once again begun treatments.
