Nicoles MAS Team USA Trip

Hi everyone! For those of you who don't already know me my name is Nicole Higham. The last year for me has been full of some of the best and some of the emotionally trying times I have ever faced. At the start of this year I was lucky enough to be introduced to this sport most people have never heard of called MAS Wrestling. It's essentially a seated game of tug-o-war over a stick with your feet against a board. I know it sounds strange but hear me out. It's a massively popular sport in Europe and it's growing in popularity here in the United States as well, and I am absolutely in love with it. Thankfully it seems as if I am also pretty dang good at it! My immediate goal as soon as I started was to make the World Championship MAS team for the USA. Ambitious right? Well that's my kind of crazy and at first it looked like I was on the right track to meet my goals! And then May of 2017 came...in May I was faced with being diagnosed with cervical cancer and there was a brief moment where it seemed like my world might come to crashing halt. How was I supposed to train and compete and do treatment and work and be a functional human while maintaining my health? I had no idea but I sat down with my doctor and we talked about my concerns and my goals and dreams and we came up with a plan! I had a choice to make, take the easy road and slow my life down and put some things on hold or take a slightly more difficult path and continue to train and push my body and do treatments all at once. Shocker, I went with the second choice! It hasn't been the smoothest road I could be on but I wouldn't change it for anything. I am willing to bet my life that I would not appreciate the people, the opportunities, or the process I've worked through had I not been fighting this battle. Flash forward to now, a few months later: after the hard work and the training and the tears and trials I did it! I pulled off my original goal and I am on the World Championship USA MAS team this year and in November the team and I are traveling to Hungary to battle it out against several other countries!! I still sometimes can't believe I did it! But I did!! - with the amazing support of my friends and family and the MAS community! And now I am here to ask some of you for a little more help!This is an expensive trip and as you might be able to imagine! I have to pay to get to Hungary, for my uniform, and of course there are a few other expenses to this trip that are all adding up. This is once in a lifetime though, and I fought really hard to get here!! I'm not normally one to ask for handouts but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to finish out this adventure I started!! Any help I can get is massively appreciated! So if you can help me out with any donation, it really would mean the world to me! And if you can't, then I also accept and would be equally grateful for prayers!!
