This is Chris Julicher and she needs your help.

What would it feel like to be pain free? This is a question that Chris asks each day.

Chris is in need of surgery to relieve her excruciating pain caused by a rare and debilitating condition known as Tarlov Cysts.

Here’s a bit more of her story.
Chris Julicher is an active member of the community. She is known to many for her servant heart and volunteer work with seniors and the police department.

Despite a rare medical condition which has caused her extreme pain throughout her body for over a decade, she has learned to smile, laugh and continue one day at a time, fighting hard to make it through each day.

In 2003, Chris began experiencing severe pain. She developed bilateral radial pain and doctors found cysts that were destroying her bone from the inside out.

Initially doctors thought it was a form of bone cancer, but this was ruled out after a number of tests. This left the medical professionals very confused.
They could not explain how these growths could develop within her body, damaging the bone marrow and blood vessels, and eventually killing the bone.

After being on every possible pain killer for almost 11 years, doctors inserted a pain pump into her body to help control the pain in both her arms. In addition, she had some of the growths surgically removed from her knees and feet in an attempt to relieve the pain.

In 2014, she began to experience excruciating pain in her lower back, in the Sacrum region. It began to affect walking, standing and sitting for long periods, which at times has been totally debilitating her.

But Chris is a fighter! She was determined to find help and kept hope alive that one day she would find a way to overcome her pain. She thought she had broken her tailbone and coccyx.

After much research and many tests, Chris has finally had a breakthrough and been presented with the opportunity to live a normal life. She was recently diagnosed with a rare disease known as Tarlov Cyst disease.

There are two doctors on the North American continent who have experience in the field of Tarlov Cysts and that can perform the needed surgery to overcome the disease. It requires an extremely delicate surgical procedure to remove the cysts, as they are located in the spine and sacrum. Chris’s particular diagnosis is that she has “a giant intra-sacral meningeal cysts, and needs to have a sacral laminectomy and dorsal sacral reconstruction with resorbable plating. This will remove the growths in the spinal canal – three on the right side, and one on the left side in the sacrum”. The doctor is not sure how much damage has been caused and will only know once he is able to operate.

It is not easy for Chris to ask for help. She is a strong and very independent 46 - year-old that has had to do everything on her own for many years. Chris is not sure when she will have the surgery as it is out of her state and financially this going to be big, but getting to the bottom of this is huge relief for her.

Chris is financially not able to do this one on her own. She is needing to cover the costs of travel expenses to Texas, the surgery, a three day hospital stay, and a minimum of 10 days in a suitable accommodation close to the hospital. The costs needs to include a person to travel with her as a caregiver.

The recovery time can take between three to 12 months or more depending on how much damage she has incurred in her sacrum. Chris is concerned that she will not be able to carry all her financial responsibilities and may lose everything she has worked so hard for.

We’re here to ask you to help us help Chris. She will need a minimum of $55000.00 for this life-changing surgery, and possibly more for her complete recovery. A GoFund Me page has been developed for her where you can contribute towards this.

If you are able to contribute financially, we would be hugely appreciative. As would Chris. Asking for help is not easy for her, but we’re determined to show her how loved she is in this world, and that there are people out there who want to make a difference in her life. Your contribution will mean more than you know.
