Thank you for reading this......any help you can give is much appreciated!!!!

This long, troubling saga started in March when Jeannie started having abdominal pain.
The pain was a symptom of Chronic lymphocytic leukemia(CLL) which my sister, Jeannie Ditter, had been diagnosed with in 2015. Doctors gave her doses of antibiotics to heal and shrink the lymph nodes causing the pain.
Fast forward to August - surgery is scheduled to remove one abcsessed lymph node that is causing problems. Surgery went fine but as Jeannie was recovering, she became unable to swallow and ended up at Stanford Medical Center Emergency diagnosed with oral thrush.
Her immune system had become so weakened from surgery and the previous antibiotics that her body could not heal.

Jeannie was admitted into ICU and was there for several weeks - much of that time in critical condition.

She endured  several procedures to attempt to dissolve blood clots,  control internal bleeding and diagnose digestive problems. As the days and weeks went on, her vitals finally stabilized and she was moved out of ICU, only to go back again when she was not able to ingest any liquids!

She has finally moved out of ICU. Yay!

A few weeks ago she started walking with assistance. What an awesome sight!
It made me cry.

Over the past several weeks, on 5 separate occasions, Jeannie has attempted to eat, but has been unable to ingest and retain solids or liquids.

Today is November 10th - it has been 59 days and Jeannie still cannot even drink a glass of water - she can have 1 or 2 ice chips at a time.  We all take eating for granted and the joy of eating our favorite foods. Can you imagine being unable to drink a glass of water!!!

She has endured feeding tubes, stomach pumps and abdominal drains.  She is currently being fed by IV and will soon have a tube inserted into her abdomen to help with the digestive process.

Doctors will not speculate as to when she will be able to digest regular food.
They are still trying to figure out exactly what is going on and how to solve it.
There is no prognosis.

Jeannie is working hard to increase her strength and she has an amazing attitude! The next step will be to move to an advanced nursing facility to continue getting stronger.
We do not know what Jeannie's future will look like, but we know that her recovery will require considerable time.

Jeannie desperately wants to recover and looks forward to going home to be with her  husband, John, who is a military vet and pets.....
BUT their house was in the middle of a remodel when she became ill and the remote area in the Santa Cruz Mountains where their home lies presents its own challenges for day to day living. Modifications will be needed at their 'Compound' to make it easily accessible and livable for Jeannie.

Most of us would agree, there's no place like home, especially when you need to heal!
We want to help complete their remodel and make the necessary changes so Jeannie has a  warm, comfortable and livable place when she is able to return home.

The thought of medical and home project costs while you are trying to recover from a major health issue can be overwhelming and futile.
We want to relieve Jeannie of her worry and allow her to continue to fight and focus on her recovery.

Funds collected will be used to buy supplies and pay contractors to finish the projects and help pay for ongoing medical costs.

Ways to help:
1. Give monetarily - ANY amount is appreciated! (tax-deductible)
2. If you have skills that can be used to complete the construction project (in the Bay area) please contact us at [email redacted]
3. Send healing positive thoughts and prayers to Jeannie!

Please help us complete Jeannie's home and help her smile again!

Thank you,
