Seen the #stoprduquarry signs around town? Wondering what it's all about? What if there was a movie that explained all of it?
Two non-profits and a local homeowner are standing against a backroom deal to give away our public lands to a stone quarry-With litigation and court dates getting closer for them...time is of the essence for the public to become informed about how the "lease" of the OddFellows Tract affects our entire RDU community, greenways, Umstead State Park and Crabtree Creek.
There is much more to this true story than a simple business arrangement between RDU Airport and Wake Stone Quarry.
"400 Feet Down: Misguided Authority and the Fight to #stoprduquarry" will tell this story.
The film will premiere on July 27th, 2019 in a local Cary or Raleigh theatre venue. It will then show a few more times locally at various locations before being released online for anyone to view for free. Also I will not be receiving funds from any tickets sales at venues.
I am making this full length film (40+minutes) to be released on July 27th, 2019. That means that I have about 6 weeks from now (June 14th, 2019) to focus on this as much as I can.
I have received partial funding from some local non-profits but to be honest, more is needed. As I work on this film I need to cover my costs of living and some travel for the film making. There may also be some unforeseen costs, such as possible fees for screening venues, etc.
Every dollar received means I can keep my focus on this film's creation, in-state travel to interview folks, online marketing, print media, lining up venues- without having to chase down other paid projects (I'm a freelance video editor).
