I'm not really sure what is going to happen, and quite honestly I never am. When I opened this studio I was already in personal debt from student loans and medical bills, and so was my family. Probably not the best move business wise but I wasn't thinking about that at all.
I simply was asked if I wanted to open up my own studio and said yes. I said yes because for 9 year of my life I had been teaching yoga in my hometown (Towson, MD). And for 14 years of my life I had been practicing yoga. This place is my home. It felt like the right thing to do.
The only thing I could think is that I finally had the opportunity to hold a special place for all the people I love and cherish to feel happy and free.
I'm now 23 years old. We were able to make it a whole year so far and I could not be more grateful for all who have made their way into 4 Warriors and for the extraordinary staff that we now have. Every single person has brought nothing but positivity through the doors.
At this point I wish I could pay for everything with smiles and good vibez. The brutal truth is that ain't it!
I'm biting off a huge piece of humble pie. The fact is I'm now $10,000 dollars in debt for rent alone. Fortunately the landlord is very kind when I let her know, "There are new people coming in every week!" and I will have the rent soon. She also usually reassures me and lifts me up by saying "look what your doing at your age, keep going!"
I will also state that everyday for the past month I've been afraid of not making it when so many people are believing in me.
I've recently heard another corporate yoga business may be on its way shortly. Statistically those corporate studios have investors put $500,000 - $700,000 for an individual studio. I do not have investors currently. And thats ok. Thats not how it was supposed to be for me at the moment.
I will ask for your help because I want to keep building the TRIBE right here at home. It takes a village. This is the only one I've ever known.
