4 Paws For Philip Travel Fund

Donation protected
Our son Philip has had uncontrollable seizures almost all of his 7 years of life. In 2016, he was diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome which is a severe form of epilepsy. He can have 100 or more seizures a day. In July 2016 he underwent a surgery to have a vagal nerve stimulator implant put in his chest to try and stop the seizures. We've been blessed that he has only had 2 tonic clonic seizures since the surgery but he continues to have many of the absense seizures everyday despite taking a several medications and the vns implant. We've even tried cbd oil for a short period of time as well as a special diet.

In February of last year our family set out on an adventure to get him a seizure alert dog. Alot of Philip's seizures happen at night and having an extra set of eyes on him will allow me to sleep better. Some of his seizures are silent and if we are not constantly watching him, we may not know he is having one which scares me. Also, we feel the dog will benefit his self-esteem, give him some independence, and keep him safe in certain situations. Our community, family, and friends all came together to help us raise the $15,000 that was needed to be placed in a class at 4 Paws for Ability in Xenia, OH. Our class is set for March 2018 which gives us about a year to plan and prepare for our new, furry family member!

Next March, our family will travel to Ohio and spend 2 weeks training with Philip's service dog before bringing him home with us.

The costs of travel, place to stay, food, and doggy supplies we will need to purchase there will add up quickly. Other 4 Paws families we've spoken to said to prepare for at least $5,000 or more to save for the trip. With Philip's endless medical bills that keep piling up, there's little room in the budget to save. So that has led us to this site to ask for help! No donation is too small to help us towards our goal. Our family has been blessed already by so many and folks have reached out wanting to help even more, asking about a donation site. So here you go!

We honestly can't thank you enough for your support, love, and prayers throughout this whole process. It's been so overwhelming for our family and we hope to be able to pay it forward in the near future!
