Abby's eye surgery!

My daughter has been wearing glasses since the age of 1, had eye surgery at 2 and was in bifocals at the age of 3. I still remember the first eye doctor she saw telling me she would never be able to learn to drive a car and putting us in touch with make a wish foundation. My daughter has had many ups and downs in her life, she learned to use a walking stick at 2 although she preferred it to be used as a helicopter blade. Was learning Braille at 3 and in special classes for special needs kids since the age of 15 months. Every 6 months she needed a new prescription and I had grown use to the twice yearly $300 hit to the bank account. This year like clockwork her eyes began to cross in her old frames, no biggie I told myself fully prepared for the usual $300 hit and on with our life we would go. Not this time, this time we got thrown a curve ball it was time for surgery her prescription was perfect as was but the muscles in her eyes are so stretched it is time to shorten them....

Funny how life works like that, so now she has a pre op appointment scheduled for May 23rd and surgery scheduled for June 20th and I am scrambling to find a way to cover the max payout we will have to pay, the vision therapy she is going to need after surgery and expenses related to after surgery care.

She loves to read, the first place she likes to check out when we walk into a store the books. 


She might have a difficult time seeing things clearly but she is always full of such adventure. She did a junior firefighter course in Henderson.



She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, has been saying the same thing for the past 4 years only recently has she added taking care of dogs to her future practice.
