Hi friends,
My name's Kayla Parker, I am 24 and I live in Columbia MO. I grew up in Africa as a missionary kid, my parents are still there translating the Bible.
I work as a Realtor's assisant and I have a cleaning service, which I work myself.
Honestly this is the last thing I wanted to do- set up a gofundme. But at this point I have no other options. My health insurance doesn't cover things like colonoscopies.
I have been sick with so many different things my whole life, but this last year I was starting to think things were getting better. Then September of 2017 I started having bloody stools, along with abdominal pain different from any I'd had before. I lost my appetite for a while and had some other symptoms that were unusual. I didn't go see a doctor because I didn't have the money for it. The blood wasn't constant, so I just prayed it would stop. I seemed to get better in the months to follow, with the occasional bloody stool.
Still struggling financially, I avoided the doctor. But in the last few months things have gotten much worse. The bloody stools became more frequent and I started to experience more fatigue and body pain than usual. I finally started seeing a local affordable doctor who doesn't use insurance. She was very concerned and took my blood work, got me on some fiber supplement and has kept an eye on me. However, this last week I've had some very unusual stools mostly consisting of blood, along with more fatigue and muscle exhaustion. Abdominal pain has increased and I feel light headed and dizy.
She is trying to help me find the least expensive option for the colonoscopy but it's looking like it'll cost about $2200 out of pocket. I don't have that kind of money upfront. I'm looking into payment options, but anything would help and be such an encouragement to me.
Please be praying for me, I am scared, I'm not going to lie. I've probably let this go on way too long, and I'm afraid of the damage ive done. I've cut meat and alcohol from my diet but I'm not sure it'll make much difference now.
But I am thankful that I have friends, family, people who know me and those of you who don't- thank you for reading this and your prayers and financial support.
