Neglected Chinchilla NEEDS Dental
Donation protected
EmmyLou is a chinchilla, a small rodent native to South America, that must have been loved at one time. Unfortunately, the people who dumped her on the wildlife center where we volunteer didn't do right by her, and she's nearing death's door due to starvation. Why? One of EmmyLou's front teeth grew curled backwards into her mouth. Without X-Rays and anesthesia, we can't save her. We're able to give her soft food and help her eat, but at 12 years old, this little gray lady deserves some dignity in her golden years.
We need help with her vet bills so we can make a responsible decision about her care. While 12 years is a good run for a small animal, chinchillas can live for 15 or more. We'd like to see her get there if she can.
Any funds NOT needed for EmmyLou will go toward the care of the other animals at the center, ranging from alligators and snakes to unreleasable wild birds like Barred Owls and Red Tailed Hawks. Helping EmmyLou is a joint effort between Smart Snakes Wildlife Education and Bwana Jim's Wildlife Show, because our family believes that understanding nature is essential to preserving and protecting it.
