Red Top Jail Emergency Roof Repairs

The Red Top Jail in Llano, Texas is an official Historic Texas Landmark built in 1895. It was the Llano County Jail until 1982.
The "Friends of the Red Top Jail" group was founded in 2008 dedicated to protect, preserve and restore the Jail. We are the sponsors of this GoFundMe request.
Over the years the Red Top fell into disrepair. In fact just a few years ago the foundation had deterioriated to the point the the walls were falling apart. We had to discontinue tours due to safety issues.
With the help of very generous contributors, donors and other friends we have funded foundation repairs, poured new concrete floors, fixed and repaired the windows and restored the metal ceiling to original conditions. Right now, we are working on interior wall repairs.
Then the rains came.
We received our fair share of the recent record Texas rains that you've all watched on the national news.
As a result we found that the gallows tower roof is failing. We had seen leaks and had "roof repairs" on our "to do" list but this was more serious than we first thought.
The very top tower as you can see in this picture including the 4 corner turrets needs to be reconstructed not just patched. Our consulting engineer has recommended we close the gallows area until repairs can be made.
It is going to require a crane to actually raise the roof. We need to rebuild the turrets, the support structures and then rework the metal roofing as close to orignal as we can make it.
All funds raised by this GoFundMe campaign will go directly towards these emergency repairs to the roof.
This project has become our top priority because if the roof fails, then the work below it could come crumbling down. It could set us back from our goal of reopening the Red Top as a local link to our Texas heritage.
