Leo's Surgery

Donation protected
never thought i would ever have to make one of these things, but here i am. even if you know nothing about me, i'd really appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes out of your day to read this all the way through. thank you so much.

My name is Skylar Schlueter. When I was 13 years old, (after months of research) I was lucky enough to adopt my very own bunny. A black and white spotted Holland Lop eared boy, who I named Leo. Leo the Lop.

I've always had different pets, mostly dogs, throughout my life, but Leo was my first pet; you know that first big responsibility you promiseeee your parents that you'll look after. I was the only one that took care of him, fed him, cleaned him, played with him, etc. I turned into a bunny expert. Soon, Leo became my everything. From when I got him age 13 to now 19, he's always been by my side. Leo even made the trip up with my family and I when we moved from California to Seattle. He's been through a lot of changes, just like me. I'd say we're pretty close buds.

I've had him ever since he was a baby. He just recently turned 6 in May. This last Friday, I took him to the vet because he had a runny nose and was shedding quite a bit. Turns out, somehow an abscess had formed by his genitalia. An abscess is about the size of a miniature golf ball, filled with bacteria and puss. We have no idea what caused it; it could've been many different things. As you can imagine, I was heartbroken when we found out what it was.

Abscesses can be deadly, but thankfully the Vet stopped the bacteria from spreading anywhere else. I was supposed to pick him up today, but unfortunately he's still not doing too well after the surgery and they've been draining puss from him constantly. Tomorrow will be Tuesday, which means he'll have been at the vet for 5 days.  Hopefully he'll be okay enough to go home Wednesday, with about a month's worth of medication ahead of us.

Here's the part I hate doing:
Abscesses are difficult things to treat and permanently fix. Along with the surgery, medication and check ups in the next few weeks he'll have to go to, the total amount for Leo's procedures is going to cost me a tad more than I was expecting; but he's my little guy and I'd do anything for him.

If it's not too much to ask, I would really, really appreciate some help in raising money for Leo's vet bills. The total comes to about $800, and it's just a lot I wasn't expecting to have to come up with by Wednesday, as I'm a part time waitress. It would mean the word if you're able to donate. When Leo comes home, I'll tell him all about the people who helped keep him healthy :')

If you're not able to donate anything, that's totally okay, thank you for reading about Leo. I appreciate anything, even just positive thoughts. It's been a rough 4 days for the both of us, and I'm not sure how much longer I have with him, so I'm just trying to do whatever I can to get my bun bun back to normal.

Much love,
Skylar
