Surviving Brain Surgery

Hi, my name is Brittany. I have Pseudo Tumor Cerebri. I was diagnosed in 2007. I so far have had 6 brain surgeries and over 100 spinal taps since 2007. Tired is the most accurate word for how so feel. I am battling hard against this disease. I work on an ambulance as an EMT. I chose this profession after all the medical stuff I went through and for when my daughter passed away. My most recent surgery was April 20th 2017. I had paid time off saved up so we could do this next brain surgery. They replaced a valve in my head. At first things went well and doctor's cleared me ten days out to go back to work. The following week after going home, I started having swelling, severe pain, and drainage from the incisions. On May 8th I returned to the ER and explained my symptoms and they immeditaley scanned me and did blood work. It came back that my shunt is infected. Which means the fluid that protects my brain is also. I will be in hospital now for a minimum of 10 days just for antibiotics and two more surgeries. Total I may not return home till close to mid late May. Then another month of possible recovery at home till I can be cleared to work again.The recovery will be different and difficult this time. Staph infections are scary and strong. I will be missing more work then I can afford. I used my paid time off for the initial surgery. I'm stuck in a rock and a hard place because I have to feed my kids and keep a roof on our heads. Honestly? I am tired. I refuse to let this monster disease get the best of me, but tired none the less. If you can help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. If not, I love having you as our friends no matter what.
