Dustin Bowers is a devoted husband to his wife Holly, and a loving father to his cherished and free-spirited four year old daughter, Savannah.
In December, Dustin began experiencing severe pain and was being treated for ulcerative colitis since 2001, but because the intense pain was not a typical symptom, he went in for a routine checkup. Last month, as pain increased and other symptoms worsened, Dustin returned to the doctor and after several tests was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. He has just begun the course of treatment, first was a long surgery. Next month Dustin will begin a six month chemotherapy treatment. Throughout this journey, the specifics will change, but will undoubtedly be an extremely difficult road ahead.
As Dustin, Holly, and Savannah face the challenges ahead, many things will change. Dustin is self-employed and will have to put working on hold. There will be a range of medical bills, childcare, travel, and everyday expenses.
