Rally together to help the Carberts
My oldest sister her hubby and their three children lost their home this morning in a fire they lost everything. They didn't have home owners insurance. She was dignosed with Lymes deasease a few years ago,and only works a few hours a week due to needing to diffuse lots of meds. Her hubby's a hard worker who works 6 days a week. Please prayerfully consider helping this family rebuild there lives, and home. Thank you
We have been so fortunate to have a wonderful family take our dog Major, who will love him as much as much as he has fallen in love with them. He will have plenty of love and attention with young children, that prayed to be blessed with a dog. One who would play fetch, run and play with them. All the things our dog LOVED to do. We are so happy that he will be well taken care, safe, and will be cared for while healing from his burns and injuries.
This week we started the painful part of rubble clean up. It was complete devastation. Our oldest daughter, Emma, equated It to being in the middle of a war zone. I was so traumatized that I could not be apart of digging through my life, hoping that I might find a photo, my wedding ring, or any trinket of my life. We had an outpouring of friends, family, and neighbors that we were willing to step in and do the filthy job. They helped spare me, and my two youngest children, aged 8 and 5, the pain of throwing my entire life into a hazardous materials dumpster. I am eternally thankful to the people that stepped up, dug through the soot, burned and charred remains of my life. I truly do not believe that I would have been able to stomach the experience. Just the thought of looking at the disintegrated remains of what was my children's bedrooms, and facing the fact that I may have been childless and a widow, was more than I could bear.
The things that you find after a fire is so crazy. The things I prayed would have been safe: an external hard drive filled with all of my children's lives, a few pictures of my wedding, my children's births, and a few of my baby photos were completely incinerated. Insignificant things like a game tile, puzzles, and a couple plastic spoons made it through the blaze.
My husband, oldest daughter, 2 nephews, and several close friends sifted through the ashes, were black with soot, dirtied their clothing, and worked like dogs to help us start again. Although they thought what they that were offering was little help, it was such an amazingly loving task, something that I couldn't do. I know that it broke my husbands heart to not only go through the fire, watching our entire life go up in flames, but to also go back and throw everything away, and dig through the rubble. Please pray for comfort for him and for strength to move on.
Your continued support is desperately needed! Whatever you can donate is deeply appreciated. You are making a huge difference in the lives of a family forever. Please continue to share this with anyone else who can help as well. As my mom used to say to me as a little girl "little by little, we will get the job done." This has become our families moto. If you would rather send a gift card, or a monetary donation directly to us, we have set up a post office box. Here is our "new address" Jeff and Elizabeth Carbert: PO BOX 303 Nisswa, MN 56468. We are humbled by your support and would like to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of our heart, may God bless you!
Praise the Lord, we were able to find two of our cats, but sadly, one perished in the fire. Our beloved "Skittles" is now in heaven.
Our Yellow Lab, "Major", who was in a kennel between the two homes, between the point of ignition of our home was burned on his legs and injured before my husband could get to him and get him out. He is, however Alive!! My sister has offered to get him to the vet and get him care.
Right now, we may need to find him a foster place while we attempt to move forward, or possibly a forever home. However, since he has been a deeply loved family member for 8 years, we would strictly screen anyone, as we want him to have a fantastic life, especially after this trauma.
We were hit with an $800 dumpster fee, to throw all of our lives away, which is again, so difficult to cover... and will probably need another, since this dumpster has very strict guidelines as to what can be put into it, as it is a hazardous materials waste dumpster. All of our belongings will need to be put into another...
We have been so humbled and blessed by the amazing generosity and outpouring of offers of help, financially, materially, and spiritually...it brings me to tears that complete strangers, communities, and loved ones are willing to drop everything to help us, in our time of need. I can not begin to thank everyone who has offered prayers, help, financial assistance, gift cards, food, toiletries, etc. So we can begin a new life.
Out of the ashes we will rise.
I will post a list of items we are still in need of, as soon as I can.
Please continue to support our GoFundMe page in anyway you can, or share to others who may be able to help. If you would prefer to send something directly to us, our address is PO BOX 303 Nisswa, MN 56468. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, may God Bless you...
Liz, did you know that despite estrangement from your father, he too contributed (anonymously)? He still loves you. I'm so sorry for your loss, I hope my own contribution will help provide some needed item.

Please continue to share this on any social media or email. We still have a long way to go to rebuild our lives. We are incredibly thankful for each and every contribution.
