Healing Piñon - Burned In Fires

Donation protected
Update: I have met Charlie's owner Margarito and we both were with the horse this morning, the horses real name is Pińon. So glad that I was able to witness them reuniting. These funds will all go towards helping out with Pińon’s vet expenses and I told the owner that I will cover any other expenses beyond what we are able to raise. The owners barn burned down in his back yard but will be able have his horse in the next door neighbors barn once he is all healed and ready to return home. I have contacted Gofundme and I have asked that they make the withdrawal check out to the vet hospital so that everyone that may not know me who have donated and who have read untrue/false statements, will know where the funds are going. *They have just responded back and it is not possible to make the check out to the veterinary hospital so they let me know to just let donors know that it will be made out to my name and the funds will be paid to the hospital. I will post all invoices, and if there are any excess funds they will go to Margarito and Bianca to pay for ongoing medical bills for vet visits after the horse gets out of the hospital. Thank you all again for your generosity!

Charlie is in a lot of pain and needs our help with anything that you can donate in order to keep his treatments going so that we can give him a chance to pull through this nightmare he was a part of.

My name is Matt Ciociolo.  I was helping to rescue horses in the fires yesterday in Sylmar.  Thanks to the assistance of LAPD Metro Police they found this beautiful boy with the strongest heart running wild found in someones yard.  He still had smoke coming off of his body from all of the burns and his hair and mane all charred off.  His eyes are all inflamed and show signs that they have had trauma with opaqueness showing on the cornea.  I helped with the veterinarians all day yesterday keeping him alive and giving him fluids/sedation over at the evacuation location at Hansen Dam.  Dr. Maia Aerni was volunteering all day doing an amazing job with him, handling him while he was screaming in pain and getting all of the necessary fluids in him and ointments on him.  After being with him all night we got him over to a safer area at the West Valley Animal Shelter out of harms way (fires were still close and threatening evacuation of the evacuation area).  After having another volunteer vet come see him today, she advised that he HAS to go to an animal hospital immediately to get his wounds and eyes cared for.  No one came to claim him.  I decided to start the temporary adoption process called a good samaritan waiver (will be able to adopt him if he is not claimed within 4 days) today and make the decision to get him out of the animal shelter asap and over to one of the best Horse Hospitals in the area.  With the help of friends in the area we were able to get him hauled over to Dr. Mike Guaccopuzzi's Hospital over in Somis, CA.  Dr. Mike and Dr. Hannah Klassen said they would try to do everything they could to help this amazing boy recover from his injuries.  All of the ointments, burn care, fluids are going to add up quick and I dont know how much I will be able to afford to get him healed.  He is going to require around the clock care.  I have covered the beginning balance of expenses needed to get him stabilized and will take care of him after he is all healed and find him a good place to relax and be well taken care of if it is at his owners ranch or at other locations I know of.

Everyone who has worked on him have collectively named him Charlie because of his Charred features.

Any funds raised on this site will go directly to Charlie's hospital bills as well as any ongoing treatments once he is released from the hospital.  I will be sure to keep everyone up to date with his day to day progress (photos/videos) and post any and all bills that come up for him so that you can see where your donations are directly going. Thanks so much!!!
