Cure Carl

Hi everyone! If you know us then you know Carl. Carl is our beautiful one year old Bernese Mountain Dog. John contacted a local breeder about getting a puppy as a Valentine's Day present in 2016. We were able to get him in March and it was one of the greatest things to happen to us. He brought us closer together at a time where we truly needed it. We have been together since 2007 and have never been happier and we believe it is because of Carl. Carl is not just a dog, he helped turn us from a couple into a family. He means the world to us and we would do anything for him. Which is why we need help! Unfortunately this morning Carl had his 5th Grand mal seizure :(. It's awful watching him have theses seizures, he wakes up sad and confused. Carl is already on 500mg of Zonisamide which is an Anticonvulsant that he's been taking for two months. We have to give him two pills in the morning, and another three at night; every day. Now although it is supposed to be helping, and we working with our vet to get the best results, we just are not satisfied. With Carl's most recent seizure the morning of March 12th 2017, we will have to adjust his medication. It is already difficult with the current dosage, but the bigger problem is the way it effects him. He gets drowsy and if you look into his eyes you can tell it is affecting him. We understand that the pills is the most cost effective way to try and subside the seizures, but he must be having them for a reason. By giving him pills we are only masking the problem, not fixing it. We want to raise money to get an MRI, to figure out the real issue and address it accordingly. MRI are extremely expensive for a dog, which is why we are here to ask friends, family or anyone empathetic to our story to help raise funds for the procedure.
