Love for Lois

He’s the most supportive mentor. He gives selflessly to his students and colleagues, pouring his heart and soul into his McNeese family. He will always be regarded as the most loving educator, director, friend, father, and husband. His office has served as a haven of comfort and security for everyone lucky enough to enter. We all have memories of how he has helped us succeed- It’s finally our chance to return the favor.

Just a few weeks ago, Mrs. Lois was taken to the ER after a persistent battle with weakness, complicated by acute hypotension. Mrs. Lois was admitted to the hospital for an emergency blood transfusion and a battery of various tests, leaving her and Mr. Bradley confused. Lois’s victory over uterine/cervical cancer in 2016 had been affirmed with every faithful return to MD Anderson for follow up appointments, so why were doctors acting so alarmed? They held on to hope that this would all be straightened out as soon as the Lake Charles doctors could evaluate her healthy medical chart in Houston. However, as the days and weeks progressed, Greg and Lois would be given several different diagnoses as test results were revealed. Since the beginning of January, Greg and Lois have been in Houston so that Lois can receive intensive medical care. Ultimately, a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia was officially received. It’s an aggressive form, but Lois has never hesitated with her promise to beat cancer… again. With a chromosomal mutation, Lois is a candidate for a clinical trial that has a fantastic success rate. She is only the 10th person from MD Anderson to participate in the trial! The plan is for her to receive chemo daily as an outpatient in Houston, and then start the process for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT). The BMT would require a 45 day hospitalization followed by two months of outpatient monitoring.

Greg has not left Lois’s side for more than ten minutes since they arrived in Houston. They are a true testimony of love and support to each other, and we want to help Mr. Bradley stay by her side. This fundraiser is to help cover the financial burden from living temporarily in Houston for treatments, while also maintaining their home in Lake Charles. Over the years, Mr. Bradley and Lois have walked miles and miles in support of cancer research for various fundraisers in Lake Charles. He has always encouraged (and still does!) others to support their community. Let’s use this as an opportunity to show Mr. Bradley and Mrs. Lois just how big the community is that is now supporting them. #GeauxPokes #MSURadsFamily #LoveForLois #BradleysBelievers
