This is Boomee, a lovable rambunctious two-year-old Rottweiler.
My husband and I have owned Boomee since he was a week old. We held him and bottle fed him when we first visited, when he weighed just over a pound. Fast forward 109 pounds and we notice a limp. After seeing two vets we got the worst news, Boomee was diagnosed with bone cancer.
After preparing ourselves for the specialist to tell us there is nothing we can do for Boomee but to make him comfortable, we are greeted with the news that he could be treated.
Boomee would need to have his left leg amputated and begin chemo immediately. And in May a vaccine should be released. The vaccination is not a cure but it is showing signs of being able to manipulate the immune system into fighting the cancer.

Bringing us here, to attempt to save Boomee’s life we are going to need a lot of generosity
Amputation from a board certified surgeon $1,300
Carboplatin (chemo) for 6 rounds, $400 a round $2,400
Metronomic chemo (take home pills) $80/month for one year
$960
Total before Vaccine- 4,660
Vaccine (The tricky part) 8 round, $600 per round (No Release date yet- expected to be in May)
$4,800
Total $9,460
This is merely the hard cost. There will be transport and missed days of work countless vet appointments but if Boomee is one of the lucky ones at the end of this he has the potential to live a full happy life. We are not looking to make Boomee suffer, we have been reassured that amputation will solve the pain and chemo is easier than it is on people.
We didn't sign up for this. We signed up for 13 years at least not 2!
