First generation college honor student!
I was driven to choose that play because I had partaken in their services after being homeless for two years and wanted to show my appreciation. It was a rough experience that has humbled me to want more for myself and be an example to those who may be suffering. Since I was legally proclaimed homeless, Tumbleweed showed me how to enroll into school and utilize the Pell Grant. Since this time, I have exited from their services and have been successfully living with my roommate. I thank them so much for giving me the head start I needed. However, I'm in my last semester before I obtain my AA in Business and, since I no longer am considered homeless, do not qualify for the Pell Grant. This is because I am under 25 and have rebuilt a (non-financial) relationship with my parents.
I have some money put away for school, but not enough to cover the semester. Tuition is $81 per credit hour, I'm enrolled in 13 credit hours, and have a $15 admission fee. That's $1068 not including books. My goals is $1250 minus the 5% fair deduction from the hosted site which comes to $53.40 being subtracted. I still have to pay for five books which range from $30 to $200 per book from discounted sources. I've never used a website like this before, and I was hoping that if I put the energy out there in any way my prayers would be heard.
I am in a program called MAPPS which guarantees my admission to ASU with a 3.00 GPA or higher with sufficient SAT scores. I will be attending ASU's W.P. Carey School of Business to study finance after this semester. I have my classes picked out for the current semester, and the minimum I would need is 20% of the cost of tuition (without the cost of books) to even set up a payment plan. Please, please, please help me continue my education! There is no higher priority in my life than to keep at school and pave the way for others like me. If this is successful, it will be recommended for the students I have volunteered to peer mentor this coming semester, if I'm able to reach these financial goals. There are 10 to 15 students who have never attended college that would be looking up to me for help. If you and this site are a part of it, then it will be a resource I can direct them to as well. The next semester starts in August 2013, and classes fill up fast. Thank you in advance!
