Dont Let EPI Take A Innocent Life

Donation protected

This is jax my 10 month old blue nose pitbull whose had a pretty ruff first few months of his life.

One of the first vets we took him to when he had a rash told us that he had a neurological problem. This means that his feet dont really listen to his brain and can cause him to be very clumsy. Something as simple as sitting down can sometimes be a challenge for jax and he might even hit his bum a few times in the process because of the fact that he doesnt have very good balance and the spinning to find a good spot kind of just throws him off. Stairs are another thing that he has problems with hes like a toddler when hes walking up the stairs, who you have to watch very closey otherwise he might lose his balance and fall in his face or fall backwards ...lets just say stairs arent his favorite thing. Just recently we went to the vet again because for some reason no matter how much we feed him he doesn't gain any weight. We had actually gone to the same vet about a few months prior to this about the same problem. They told us that he was at a good weight and he was healthy and we shouldnt worry about it because some dogs are just smaller than others(even though you could faintly see his ribs). After seeing that vet, we just started to think that he was just going to be smaller than most pitbulls, which we were fine with. However, just recently we noticed that he had lost some weight and was looking very boney so we took him back to the vet. They said he didnt have any parasites or wingworms, which meant the problem was something way worse.

E.P.I. is a condition that is found in larger breeds of dogs, mostly german shepards but it can happen it other dog breeds its just not as common. E.P.I is a condition in which the body doesnt know how to break down protein or nutrients that it gets from the food they eat and basically causes the dog to starve and be hungry all the time as well as have constant gas. This condition is something that they are born with which means that its most likely genetic and he most likely got it from one of his parents. Even though this condition cant be cured, it can be treated. ( which is the postive in this ). Treatment is different fot each dog with E.P.I but the two most common forms of treatment that i know of are b12 shots and a powder that helps their body to break down their food. Sadly that wasnt the only thing we were told by the vet when we went, after checking his heart beat they said he had a heart murmur, which could be mean that its a serious matter or not but only test will tell.

I wish i had the money to help pay for his treatments but i dont im only 16 and i dont have a job currently but im looking so that incase anything like this happens again i will be able to pay for it and get him the treatment he needs. My family would help out if they could but money is kind of tight at the moment because of all the bills we have to pay that we wouldnt even be able to pay for half of it because its a pretty big vet bill. I love my dog so much and i dont think that he should be put down unless he is absolutely miserable but hes not (besides the E.P.I condition).

Even with everything hes got going on, hes still so happy and playful that you would have never guessed that hes actually pretty sick, i think thats his way of saying hes not ready to give up.

Please help my dog out even if you can only donate 1 dollar, because that 1 dollar means a lot to me and him and it can help out alot Thank you for taking the time to read this long description and thank you for donating if you could. If you could share this on facebook or any social media that you have with your friends and family it would mean a lot to me because the more people know the better chance he has at getting his treatment.
