Bretts Story

Brett Allen Keenan suffered a catastrophic brain injury as a passenger involved in a major Quad( 4-wheeler) accident on August 14, 1998. Due to the serious nature of his injury, an ear to ear skull fracture with extensive cranial damage. Brett was never anticipated to recover let alone live any resemblance of a normal life.Although Brett was left with severe limitations in the areas of sight, hearing, speech and the impairment of coordination and balance. He nevertheless continued on his journey in life where many would have lacked the courage to go on. In fact Brett has flourished, due to his undeterred faith in God, a positive attitude and strong family ties. Even after undergoing extensive surgeries on hearing, vision and numerous broken bones.Brett has been left with disabilities he must battle everyday. Despite so many setbacks in life Brett has overcome many of his limitations to the magnitude that he has achieved a very high level of success in weight lifting and now has aspirations of making his dreams of becoming a participant in the November 2017 powerlifting Special Olympics a reality. Brett has touched the hearts and minds of many and is well-known throughout the local communities. Brett has certainly become an inspiration to me. So much so that one of his personal care providers and myself are currently in the process of becoming Special Olympics certified coaches so we can offer our knowledge and support in making Brett's dream a reality.....
