Many of you know that my dad has had a trying year and a half with medical issues. He had a triple bypass this past May, with a very successful outcome, but has faced several other medical issues since. Recently, He contracted a very bad infection and is being treated with medicines last stand against it. It was such a fast progression, and seemed like a standard run of cellulitis Monday to Wednesday of last week, but by Thursday and Friday the Devil was revealed.
He is officially listed as Isolated. The bacteria is MRSA, it is a flesh eating bacteria. A Vancamycin drip is done for two hours, gauze wrap the leg, pour saline all over the gauze, and then Ace Bandage all that. We wait 8 hours and repeat. Over the next two days they will cut away some flesh.
Many concerned friends and families have asked what they can do. My dad has a $5200 deductible that must be met before his Affordable Health Care Blue Cross Blue Shield Silver Value Plan will begin paying.
