EIU Honors Students to NCUR

Donation protected
We are Caitie Danforth, Megan Kessler, Helen Plevka, and Haley Titsworth—four of many students impacted by Illinois’s budget impasse.

The four of us met as freshmen in an Honors Forum class; from there we have studied within the Communication, English, and History departments and immersed ourselves fully into all that Eastern Illinois University offers, proudly claiming roles like student athlete, musician, research assistant, living history interpreter, honors student ambassador, on-campus employee, volunteer coach, study abroad participant, resident assistant, and pre-service teacher. Amidst these and other academic responsibilities, we have pursued independent research projects in our respective fields with the end goal of presenting at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in Asheville, North Carolina, this April.

Eastern has always supported undergraduate research and recognized the academic and professional value of this conference experience. However, due to the lack of a state budget, the university had to retract all promised funding for the trip.

We are still determined to present our research at NCUR and have calculated the minimum funding necessary for registration, transportation, and lodging. With your help, we can attend this national, prestigious conference. Your support would mean more to us than you know.
