Kevin Maull's Medical Fund

This is my baby brother, Kevin. He turned 19 this year and on the night before Thanksgiving he and his girlfriend were involved in an automobile accident where they were ejected from the vehicle. Kevin suffered a broken pelvis, wrist, shoulder blade, and brain trauma. Right now, his doctors are focusing in the damage to the brain. On the first day, Kevin underwent 2 surgeries that called for pieces of the skull to be removed to relieve pressure from the swelling. Because of the nature of the brain injuries, he was put into a medically induced coma. Before I go on with the medical jargon the doctors keep telling our family, allow me to tell you a bit about my little brother. Kevin is the youngest of 4 children. I actually requested him because for the longest, I was the only boy. I'm practically the reason he's alive, but this isn't my story. Kevin usually has the brightest smile in any room. He has a 6th sense that allows him to pick up on emotions. He can always tell when something isn't right and goes out of his way to fix it and make you smile. At the tender age of 9, Kevin was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He learned how to live life under certain dietary restrictions. His father passed in 2009. And in early 2015, he lost his grandmother. Through it all, Kevin has dealt with it in grace. Blow after blow, he has been an inspiration for our family. Although he's young, he's a model of strength for us all. As of day 2 in the hospital, Kevin's vitals have stabilized and a lot of the swelling has gone down. He still has a long way to go, but he's managed to move his hand voluntarily. He has his youth on his side, so the doctors are predicting a swift recovery. Family has flown and driven from all over the country to be with Kevin. We love this guy and can't wait for him to get better. With head injuries, you never know the extent of the damage until the person wakes up. We were told it would be about a week before they wake him up. It could be anything from him learning to walk again or him learning to speak again. But we know therapy is in order. We don't come from much, but we manage. In this family, love is our form of currency. That's not really the case with the healthcare system though. That's where you guys come in. Do you have someone in your life that you just can't live without? For this family, he's that person. You may or may not know Kevin, but chances are you know the person posting the link to this page. We're a pretty happy-go-lucky bunch, right? This guy is one of the reasons we're how we are. Anything helps. Thank you for even reading this. If you can't donate, we're accepting prayers as well. Thank you for your time, love and compassion.
