"The Renaissance Of The Drikung Kagyu"
In 1975 His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche crossed the Hymalayas on foot and alone, reaching H.H. The Dalai Lama in India and later his family in America.
In 1987 I met him in Washington D.C., I as a journalist, working as a lobbyist for the Environment, and him with a handful of projects. Today, The Drinkung Kagyu has rebuilt many monasteries inside Tibet by the hand of their devout people, and in India a Monastery, a Nunnery, and a College in Dehradun, and around the world retreat places, Meditation Centers, and Peace Stupas Temples.
I have followed its process and the sacrifices and efforts of this dedicated people for many years documenting and photographing their events and efforts. This book will show the power of faith, dedication and hard work facing the Tibetan People, now joined by Westerners globally in the face of their cultural genocide.
This book has been approved by the His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche, head of the Lineage, who will also fund the publishing of the Book in India.
Funding: I need to make two trips to India and one to Nepal with an assistant-- $7,000 for photos and research, and one trip to Europe and Asia: $5,000 to document the new centers and monasteries. General expenses: $ 3,000.

I have good news!! Because of your help, I have been able to travel for the last few months through Asia, Europe and South America, mostly in the company of HH Kyabgon Chetsang. More than 10,000 pictures were taken, and there is still much work to be done to get this book out of my desk. HH Kyabgon has changed the deadline for the book to the spring of 2016, after the inauguration of the Srasvati Stupa in northern India where the Buddha took his summer retreats. This year, I attended more than 8 inaugurations of Drikung new centers, stupas or temples; went to teach in Venezuela, and to see family in Brazil.
Now, I am back home, working daily on all the material collected for the project. This is the second and last part of the program. To complete this project I will need your help to raise the last half of the amount needed for the completion. Ani Dadron, from Georgia, graciously joined me this week here in Seattle/Sammamish, to help with editing and research, and HH Kyabgon is coming to the US and South America next year. By November 2015, I am suppose to join His Holiness in India for inauguration of the Srasvati project and then stay in Dehradun until the book is finished and published. For all this I am asking you please to come forward again and support this work with your donation, as you know any amount goes a long way! My goal is to reach $15,000.
Thank you and many blessings,

Thank you to your generosity and support. I am in India working in the "The Renaissance of the Drikung Kagyu" book. The fund has reached above 50% of our goal. When I go back to US in the end of April, I will need to have the funds to get tickets to go to Europe for three Drikung Kagyu inaugurations, and Ladackh to visit a nunnery and a far away monastery. I already have part of it, but will need that you all come forward for rest of it.
Amazing good news are on the way-a new Peace Stupa will be inaugurated maybe in September 2014, in Lebanon, of all places. Another special place to see the flourishing of the Drikung kagyu.
Next year the inauguration of the Drikung Sharasvati pilgrimage place, and in Los Angeles the Drikung Kagyu Molan tradition starts with the presence of HH Kyabon Chetsan Rinoche.
I am sure your support will guarantee that all this will be recorded and documented in the book and in the Digital Library I have created in flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aharkavy/collections/. It can be overwhelming to see, but it is easy to navigate through collections. Inside each collection there are several sets with hundreds of photos of empowerments, inaugurations, teachings, lamas and HH Kyabigon Rinpoche tours, art in Monasteries and caves, temples and Meditation Centers, included two times in which I was allowed to be a photographer to the Dalai Lama teachings in America. All available to download in three resolutions, and sent to print with the push of a bottom. A service I am giving to the Sangha for the last seven years.
Have a wonderful year of the horse, with the blessings of our great protector Achi and her horse. May all beings benefit!!
It is exciting to see that we are getting closer to my goal. I knew we could do it. Let's get closer and closer. We have reached 52% of the goal. Tickets to be affordable need to be bought long time in advance. Please come forward and support this project. I know we can do it. We are doing it, it is just amazing.
Have you explored the great digital library that I have built over the years to document Tibetan Buddhism and the Drikung Kagyu? Please go to Flicker: http://www.flickr.com/photos/aharkavy/collections, where there are 33,000 public pictures, and many more to come.
Explore the amazing treasures of visual art that is available to print in several resolutions.
For seven years I have been travelling and photographing all ceremonies, events, rituals, monasteries, lamas, yogis, caves and precious, ancient and new objects of ritual. A treasure to be discovered and enjoyed by all who love the Dharma, religious art, and a culture that was almost destroyed by the vandalism of the so called Chinese cultural revolution.
I am counting on you for us to complete this project together.
"May the blind see forms,
And the deaf hear sounds.
May those whose bodies are worn with toil
Be restored on finding repose."
I am packing to go back to India on Friday. In my bag and computer I have a long list of events and ceremonies to take pictures and Lamas and Yogis to photograph. All made possible because of your support and generosity.
Much is happening to make this project possible. Just today was contacted by a specialist on Drikung Kagyu paintings and tankas asking for help, but in fact he will also be able to clarify many of the questions I have about dates and style regarding the many tankas I have photographed.
My next stop is in Europe, travelling with His Holiness Chetsang Rinpoche to photograph the several inaugurations the Drikung Kagyu will have during this summer in four different countries: France, Hungary, Germany and Latvia.
To make possible the next leg of this project I need your help to acquire the tickets in good price. Please donate and continue to support this work. I know that together we can do it. We want to see this book published next year. Without your help it is not possible.
Again, Thank You and many blessings. May all beings benefit!!!
I wish I had known about your project earlier... I know some of the practitioners that are supporting your project. I also have produced a book on the Drikung Kagyu on iTunes... I am still trying to get money raised for a non profit. I also have been to Dehra Dun and places around India and Nepal.... I have various photographs from there at HH Chetsang Rinpoche's.... I do not know if you can use any in your publication. I don't seem to have much luck in the Dharma groups promoting my book for funds for donation which has been really frustrating since it took my 10 years to compile my images and write the story and then publish. I would love to help in some way and if you have any ideas on promoting my publication I would love to hear from you.
