Rudy's Story
Rudy is a very loved mini schnauzer. Last week he experienced a Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (FCE), a stroke in his spinal cord, that left his back legs paralyzed, and him unable to walk without assistance. As many of you know, our little schnauzer Harry also experienced an FCE that left him paralyzed, forever changing his life and ours. This is a subject that is very close to my heart, as my husband and I understand the pain and sacrifice that this kind of stroke involves.
We also understand the financial burden. Animal ICU's very quickly turn into not hundreds but thousands of dollars in medical bills. Plus there is further therapy, medication, purchasing wheelchairs, slings, diapers, etc. When Harry had his FCE, we were overwhelmed with the amount of support that was shown to him. Many people donated money, without us even asking, to help us cover the cost of his medical bills and treatments. Not only did this help us continue to give him great care, but it also helped us emotionally- we didn't feel alone in the process. Love went a long way.
Rudy's humans Tracy and Bruce have already spent $7,000 in just his ER and ICU visits alone. They want to be able continue his care, and give him the best chance at recovery as they can, but have simply run out of funds to be able to do so. I know how much having support meant to Jake and I with Harry. I would love to do for Tracy and Bruce what was done for us, and not only help them continue to give Rudy the medical care he needs, but also show them that they are not alone in this. Tracy frequently participates in fundraisers for her local rescue, as well as donates to many pups herself. She's done for others... Now let's do for her. Will you join me in helping Rudy out?
