Trust for Maila Spagnuolo

I am Lindsay, Matt spagnuolo's sister. Matt loved his daughter more than anything in the world. We found a kid's book while going through his things and in his own words this is part of what he wrote to his daughter: "You are my inspiration to succeed in my college courses. Everything I am doing is to ensure you have a future and so I have the abilities to provide for you. I love you with all of my heart and I want you to have everything that I have and much more. I will always regret not paying attention to school. I've learned if you do not do well academically it creates a much harder life to live and job opportunities are not as you would want. I always want you to be able to look back at me after you go to college and say you had great parents who always will love you and helped you create your own life and "BE POSITIVE" "B+". Love always your Father, Matthew V. Spagnuolo"

Matt was extremely proud to have served for his country. He joined the Army right after 9/11.  He served from 2002-2006 and was an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran. He was stationed at Ft. Irwin in California where he then deployed overseas to Iraq. He was stationed at Camp Taji, Camp Liberty, and Camp Victory for a year. After the Army he was in the Florida National Guard for 2 years. His rank was SPC E4.

A message from my parents: "Yesterday our son died of an accidental drug overdose. Another statistic of the Veteran Administrations lack of treatment. He suffered greatly from PTSD and severe back pain. He is at peace now. We all love you Matt and you will be in our hearts and minds for the rest of our lives. "

Instead of flowers our family is asking that you make a donation to set up a trust in Maila's name for her college education. We hope to make Matt's wishes come true. Matt was only 30 credits short of completing his own degree in homeland security.
