Breast Cancer Medical Expenses

Donation protected

My name is Ashley Morrison. The day after my 34th Birthday, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. We are a one income family  with 2 small children who do not qualify for any governmental assistance such as food stamps or Medicaid, which makes it almost impossible for us to afford the medical bills we will be facing.

So far I've had 2 mammograms, 4 ultrasounds, 7 biopsies, 3 CAT Scans, an MRI, a surgical port put in and 3 rounds of chemo therapy.

I feel extremely fortunate as we live about 15 minutes away from one of the best hospitals that treats cancer.  I am currently going to North Cypress Medical Center. My PCP is Dr. Barnard, my Oncologist is Dr. Hodges, my General Surgeon is Dr. Keller, and my Plastic Surgeon is Dr. Hoff. I feel they are an absolutely wonderful team of physicians and specialists in their fields, and are determined to help me fight this and beat it!

The treatement plan as of now consists of 4 Rounds of Chemo 1 Therapy every other week and then 12 Rounds of Chemo Taxol weekly, for 12 weeks. After that I will be undergoing a Double Mastectomy followed by an undetermined number of Radiation Treatments. Then and only then will I be able to undergo Reconstructive Surgery which my doctors say will actually be done in a total of 2-3 surgeries.

Although I feel extremely blessed with a diagnosis of Stage 2 that my doctors feel confident that most likely can be treated effectively, they have told me that at the least this journey will be a very long and very challenging one. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and in our case financially. They see my total treatements going into 2018, with follow up appointments and preventative care going into 2019, and on.

We continue to be awed by the generosity and kindness shown by my family, friends and some who have chosen to remain anonymous, with their financial, physical, and emotional support. We have even been blessed with those who donated presents to my children for Christmas, so our children would not know the financial burden we are under, and that in itself has touched my heart in a way that I just can't even convey with words right now.

So even though the road ahead will be long and at some points bumpy we will rely on our faith in God and in the kindness and generousity of others. We will strive to remain positive, and count the many blessings we have. We will trust in God and leave our futures in his hands. As you read our story please consider donating if you are in a place where you can, even if a very small amount. Do not feel any amount is too small. We are grateful for any and all donations. If you are unable to donate financially, we totally understand. Please mention us in any prayer groups you may know as we strongly believe in the power of prayer. And if you could also share our link with as many others as possible, that too would also be greatly appreciated. God Bless you all!
