Historic Medley Capital Campaign

Donation protected
Historic Medley District, Inc. (HMD) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit established by up-county residents in 1974 to restore, preserve, maintain, and teach appreciation of buildings, sites, and open spaces in the nothwestern area of Montgomery County, Maryland. This area  is located within the county's Agricultural Reserve. HMD  operates three historic museums in Poolesville: the 1793 John Poole House, the oldest house  in the town; the 1907 Old Bank Museum; and the Seneca Schoolhouse. HMD owns the first two properties and leases the third from the State of Maryland. These three buildings are open to the public at scheduled times and offer a variety of exhibits, field trips, and events throughout the year. They are iconic symbols of the town and contribute to its historical significance from the early eighteen century to today as a very popular tourist venue. Our day-to-day operational funds come entirely from membership dues, voluntary contributions, and small grants from the County and State. But, these resources are not nearly enough to finance major repairs to our properties. Therefore, we are opening the HMD Capital Improvement Funds Campaign. We ask you to join us to reach our goal of $50,000. These funds will enable us to undertake  much needed repairs and renovation work on our historic properties. With your generous help, we can continue to serve our community with educational and cultural events.
