"HELP KEN SHAW FIGHT CANCER!"

In 1994, I brought Ken Shaw to Theatre of Youth to design one show.  I guess you could say we hit it off! He has been our Head of Design for 20 years! Ken’s artistry has delighted and amazed the hundreds of thousands of children who discover theatre for the first time at TOY.

Ken has built a career in Buffalo’s theatre community.  Nearly every actor in town has performed on a set or worn a costume that Ken imagined.  His remarkable talent, creativity and ingenuity raised the bar on production values for all of us. And Buffalo theatre is better for it!

In the past month, Ken began informing friends and loved ones that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive Lymphoma. He has just completed the second round of chemo at Roswell Park with four more to go. Many folks want to know what they can do to help their colleague and friend.  The best way to help is through this GoFundMe campaign!

Cancer treatment is complex, intense and expensive.  Our $6,000 goal would help Ken cover the many co-payments and many associated expenses that are coming at him, fast and furious!!

So, here is the call to the Buffalo theatre community, Ken’s friends near and far, and anyone who has ever enjoyed the gifts of his wonderful talent and dedication.  Whatever you can kick in will be appreciated. Please get the word out in a big way. Let’s hit the goal...or pass it…by New Year’s Day!
