Oromo musical icon Nuho Gobena needs our help
The struggle our artists and musicians face – people who made the songs that helped us get through hard times as individuals, those who produced some of the most mesmerizing and timeless songs which helped define who we are as people, individuals who inspired a generation – is a sad, unspoken, and shameful reality within our community.
As you can see in the video, Nuho’s health is deteriorating and he doesn’t have the means to seek medical help. Nuho is a cultural icon, a larger than life figure abandoned by his people. I can’t think of anyone in my generation who didn’t find comfort and inspiration in his songs. We shouldn't have allowed a situation in which an icon of his calibre finds himself in this situation.
This page is set up to collection donations for this iconic figure to help him overcome these difficulties.
Let us show him that we care, that he still matters to us and that we appreciate what he has done for us as individuals and as a community. Seeing that people care is invaluable – Nuho will appreciate any amount you can give.
