Help save Maui our Pekingese puppy

Dear friends and family, We just found out today that our Pekingese puppy Maui of 10 months old has been diagnosed with Atlanto Axial Subluxation.  Over the course of the last few days she has been crying over any type of small movement and it culminated last night whenever she would try and get up to drink some water or eat, she would fall to the ground yelping in agony. I had to pet her to calm her down but she was frozen in pain and fear so we took her to the Vet as this was not normal. They took an Xray of her upper spine and head and found that her first vertebrae was not fused together and unless she has this fixed with surgery, she will be paralyzed and most likely die from not being able to breathe. We have attached photos and the doctors say that this is a congenital defect. Please help us save our puppy as my kids love her dearly. Surgery runs in between $4000-$6000 dollars.
