Hello!
First off. If you cannot donate to me for any reason, please consider a donation to the Glenrose Hospital in Edmonton Alberta.
My name is Alex Lavery 28yo,
I post on Facebook as Alex Shackleford. In February 2015 I suffered a fall from a fourth story balcony. I suffered some memory loss and cannot recall the weeks leading up to the fall, and only bits and pieces of the incident itself.
After several weeks in a coma I awoke to the kind and caring staff at the U of A hospital. My injuries were numerous and my ability to walk was in jeopardy. Thankfully I received great treatment from both the U of A and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital where I was later transferred. I was released in June and continued Physical Therapy in the community. Thanks to all involved I am up and walking albeit at a reduced capacity.
Where do you fit in?
At some point during my rehabilitation the position I held for a local logistics company was terminated. Prior to this my employer denied my health benefits. Upon exiting the hospital I found I had lost my home and the economy crashed. The few jobs still available are out of my reach due to lifting restrictions.
I am hopeful that I can find something that works for me but in the meantime costs have piled up.
Medical Expenses/General Bills
I currently owe Alberta Health Services $243.00CAD +/Late fee's for AirCast's. Unpaid bill's from my previous residence are putting me in tremendous debt.
I have no stable income and I am ineligible for social assistance.
(I am not disabled enough for AISH and the combined income in my household puts me outside the welfare requirments. I was paid out my EI benifits last year after a long battle with service canada but that money has since been spent on day to day living. It is the governments view that I should have received benefits through my former employer.)
I appreciate times are tough.
Don't give what you don't have!
Thank you for reading.
