Dear friends of the Awesome Clubhouse @ la escuelita,
It's that time of year! Every year we offer a free family shopping day at the Clubhouse for school supplies before school starts. We are hoping to have enough supplies for 50 young people and get the school year off to a great start! Last year, because of your support, we raised $295 and we're hoping to do it again this year!
Would you consider donating so all children have what they need for school? I calculated that our local public school supply lists cost around $40 / child which might mean needing to forgo your weekly groceries or gas. And if you have more than one child, this really adds up. I think it's important that at our public schools, all children have what they need to thrive and this burden shouldn't be put onto families. Your donations will be used to purchase supplies that will directly benefit Athens families. Thanks for helping ensure that all children are able to have what they need to get the school year off to a great start!
About the Clubhouse: The Awesome Clubhouse @la escuelita is a creative educational maker-space with after school and summer programming. Community children and educators engage in questioning, critical thinking, social justice work and creating in the Clubhouse's library, construction, art, kitchen and workshop spaces. Projects range from putting up a volleyball net to backyard book clubs to writing books to creating superhero capes. Intentions are for the Clubhouse to be a space where children cultivate curiosity, creativity, a strong sense of self and social justice through access to arts, sciences, nature and space to create. Everyone in the Clubhouse continuously teaches and learns from one another and in the process innovate education, learning and research . Every year we hold a Free School Supply Shopping Day in the Clubhouse space for our awesome Clubhouse community families. Your donations go directly to purchase school supplies for the shopping day.
