"Make a wish" family trip for Joe
You did it! We hit our $8,000 goal and fulfilled Joe Genduso's wish to visit his extended family in NYC! Now let's see how high we can go for Joe's medical bills!
Here's the backstory on how the $8,000 will be used:
Joe grew up in New York, but moved to Oregon where he now lives with his wife Nicole, son Joey, and daughter Brooklyn. Thanks to you, they will get to fly back to New York to meet and see his extended family in June. While they're there, they have the opportunity to make a couple more of Joe's dreams come true. They'll get to see Cake Boss (one of Joe's favorite shows) and the Mets will give the four of them tickets to any game.
Your donations will go toward travel, hotels, and meals for the family. Any money raised beyond the cost of the trip will go toward medical bills.
(Note from Jen: I just noticed that when you donate it says the donations will go to me. Not true - the site will link to Nicole's bank account.)
Scroll down for Joe's story:
Joe (47) is battling a grade four Glioblastoma. That is
the most aggressive form of brain cancer. There currently is no cure or
way to get rid of this type of cancer. They are treating the tumor with
radiation and chemotherapy to prolong Joe's life. The average patient
survives about a year with treatment. At the end of March, when Nicole presented the diagnosis to Joe, he told her that he would do whatever
he had to do to get as much time with her and their kids as possible. They are hoping to qualify for a clinical trial.
