Portslade Rabbit Vaccination Appeal

Portslade Animal Rescue is family run and has been going for 25 years.
Initially we used to take all kinds of animals from dogs to birds, however, we now concentrate on the care of rabbits and cats.
Portslade Animal Rescue has always been known for taking in old, sick, incontinent and disabled animals that no other Rescues would normally take or would put to sleep or ones they couldn't cope with. We are now more of a Sanctuary as our residents are mostly not re-homable to most families, i.e. they are old and infirm or come accompanied with ongoing vet bills.
At the moment we have 47 rabbits and 25 cats in our care.
You may or may not be aware that there is new strain of VHD which is affecting rabbits in the UK now, this virus is called RVHD2 and it is always fatal if contracted by rabbits, it is easily transmitted by wildlife, birds, on clothing, feet, in the hay and forage foods.
There is a vaccination for this strain but it has to be imported by vets in the UK from France, the cost of this vaccine is approximately £25 per rabbit plus the vet call out fee, our strained finances can't stretch to large unexpected outgoings such as the amount required to vaccinate all of our bunny rabbits.
We desperately need to raise funds as soon as possible to pay for the vaccination of our rabbits to keep them safe from this dreadful disease, its a terrible worry and - as you can imagine - a very stressful time for us.
Several Rescues have been hit with it, as mentioned above, it's fatal and the rabbits are usually just found dead having previously been in good health and the wild rabbit population is declining rapidly.
