Large Animal Rescue Training Class

I am writing to you on behalf of the LART (Large Animal Response Team), an all-volunteer, non-profit organization located at Cracker Box Palace Farm Animal Haven in Alton, NY. The LART program provides the community with the means of rescuing large farm animals in Wayne County and the surrounding region.
Following the devastation and the heart break of people surviving the disaster in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, a presidential executive order was passed October 6, 2006 by President George W. Bush to form County and State Animal Response Teams for Emergency Management Departments across the country to provide plans for the animals during disasters and not leaving them behind. In 2007, Cracker Box Palace was asked to serve as Wayne County’s Large Animal Team for the Wayne County CART and be listed on the NY Empire State Animal Response Team.
On September 10th & 11th, 2016 members of the LART will be hosting a hands on training opportunity with Code 3 Associates, a professional animal disaster response training company. To learn more about the organization, please visit their website http://code3associates.org.
This training will be a vital means for the LART to expand its knowledge and skills needed to safely rescue and contain large farm animals from various emergency situations involved in natural disasters, accidents, to assist emergency responders in fires, accidents and emergency scenes involving large or farmed animals. We will be inviting local volunteer fire, emergency response personnel, veterinarians, or horse or livestock owners to join us for the training.
We estimate the cost of this training, to be $7,000. By assisting LART to raise the funds needed for this training, you would be taking part in providing a cost effective way of making sure there are trained and knowledgeable individuals to help people with large farm animals in times of emergency.
There is no cost for our services when we respond to such an emergency. Your donation will help ensure that you, your family, or friends that may have large farm animals will have someone to call in times of need.
