Our dear brother, Robert Rivera, has been struggling with the devastating effects of diabetes, because of his health issues he has been unable to work for several years. Robert played an important role in so many lives of the youth in Wilder for over 20 years. He volunteered his time coaching baseball, football, basketball and soccer programs. He continued even after his boys were no longer involved.
Let us share with you how quickly life can change. Robert had his annual DOT physical in January 2014 and was unable to pass, resulting in the loss of his job and had to begin dialysis for renal (kidney) failure. In July, he underwent surgery for a triple bypass. This past March he was hospitalized for 18 days with staff infection in his spine. As a result of this infection he was diagnosed in June with a compression fracture and fracture fragments of the spine and spent an additional 10 days in the hospital. He spent the next 10 weeks going to dialysis three times a week in Caldwell and to other various doctors the other two days of the week in Nampa and Boise. During that time he went from using a cane to assist him walking to having to use a wheelchair. He has recently undergone back surgery fusing 6 vertebraes. He will have to undergo intense physical and occupational therapy before he can return home to his family.
We are praying for Robert to begin making progress to a healthy and productive life, but we understand the process. We also know that there has been and will be major medical costs and traveling expenses involved. We are asking that you donate to Robert’s cause. Join us as we help his family!!!
