My name is Alyssa Weiner and I am officially a qualified contestant in the upcoming Miss Oklahoma Teen USA 2017 pageant. As most of you already know, I live in Tulsa, OK and I attend school at Union Public Schools. I maintain a 4.0 GPA, I am on the 8th grade cheer squad, I run Cross Country for our JH team, I take several Pre-AP classes each school year, and I’m a big sister to my 6 younger siblings.
First, I want to tell you that I am so excited about this opportunity to compete in a pageant as this has always been my dream! I am participating in the pageant because I want to earn as much scholarship money as possible and to also promote my platform, “Spread the word to end the word” by not saying the “r word”, “retard”. This is something that I have been passionate about since I was a young girl. To some people, saying the "r word" may seem like a small problem, but for those with children, sisters, brothers, friends, or family that are mentally disabled/ill, it's a huge deal. Saying this word not only hurts people's feelings, but it is completely disrespectful. Please , think before you speak and do not use the "r word".
In order to participate in the pageant, I have been asked to seek out sponsors to assist me in paying my sponsorship fee. There are also additional fees for my dress, a pageant coach and many other expenses. I am asking for your help, so that I can achieve my dream to compete in the Miss OK Teen USA pageant December 16-18th. No amount is too small! Thank you for taking time to read my campaign.
