Helping Students Become Inventors

My name is Mike Turner and I am a member of a nonprofit inventors group that educates students on how to conduct research on their ideas. Each year we work with middle and high school students who create projects in their science and engineering classes. These students create projects that can solve every day problems and may have patent potential. However, these projects are not exactly prototype material. They need to be in a software design so that a 3D model can be produced and taken to a manufacturer. When a manufacturing company does the sketching of the project, create a 3D design and create a prototype, it would cost thousands of dollars that the students and their parents can’t afford. Our local inventors group helps reduce the cost by sketching the project and creating the 3D software design. What we are lacking is the creation of a prototype using a 3D printer.

These projects and products created by the students can solve problems we all face every day. Some of the projects they have created are:

The Effects of over the counter drugs on Breast Cancer.
Using Solar Power to operate lawn mowers.
Water Desolater that can change dirty water into clean water.

Products like these can solve worldwide problems. These are just a few of the creative projects the students came up with.

Our local non-profit group is in need of a 3D printer to help these students further their projects. The group is able to produce 3D models of the student’s projects and file for patent protection. We are in need of funds to purchase a 3D printer so that we can present to a manufacturer a prototype they can manufacture. Our dream is to help these students create innovative products that will help solve every day problems.
