Eugene's friends, peers and fans know of his many accomplishments.  His group, The Jive Five, were a staple at the United In Group Harmony Association shows, and regulars on the oldies circuit for over five decades.  They did many television and radio shows, including PBS specials, and traveled extensively in England and other European countries, where they enjoyed considerable popularity.  Eugene was the lead singer of the group from the beginning and wrote, arranged and produced most of the group's recordings .Eugene never believed in staying stuck in one era.  He always  said The Jive Five progressed with the times. They sang rhythm and blues, soul and disco songs, and Eugene was working on a gospel/Christmas album at the time of his passing on June 29, 2018.

A few years ago, Eugene recorded a solo album called "Steppin' Out In Front, I Love Beach Music, but he never left The Jive Five.  In 2012, Eugene's signature song, and biggest hit, "My True Story" became the title song for Aaron Neville's "doo wop" album.  Eugene was hand picked for the project by co-producer Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones,  The producers and Neville asked Eugene to pick the other background.singers for the album.  A PBS special was one result of the project.

Eugene worked on many projects and with many singers throughout his career.  He wrote, and he and The Jive Five sang the bumpers for the children's network Nickelodeon, and he received two Cleo Awards for his efforts.  He taught rock star Jon Bon Jovi how to sing and harmonize, and he worked with Gloria Gaynor on her vocals. . He produced and arranged several of her albums, and helped many other singers along the way.

Eugene's influence on other artists and groups was extensive.  Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin cited the influence of The Jive Five during their acceptance speech into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Others include Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, Brian Setzer, from The Stray Cats, Paul Simon, Aaron Neville, Elvis Presley, and more too numerous to mention.

Please help The Pitt Family reach their goal, A donation of any amount is appreciated, so Eugene Pitt can rest in harmony with the help of his friends, peers, and loving and adoring fans. ,
