Time to test. Anyone who knows Susan KNOWS her and who she is. She helps others til she's empty and she gets nothing in return but pain. Now its your turn to show the appreciation from her Friends and Family. Anything helps!! My family has seen our fair share of obstacles over the years. We have always had a very strong bond to one another during hard times. My mother has always given me the best possible care when I was a child. I have watched her battle breast cancer three times and she has continuously bounces back with great strength and courage. Now our focus is to help a wonderful friend and mother, Susan, battle fluid that is located on the top of the brain.
Over the last year and a half we have been seeing a decline in my mom physically and mentally. I began seeing symptoms of memory loss, sleepiness, irritability, downward deviation of the eyes (also referred to as “sunsetting”), and then the seizures became more frequent and I knew we needed to take action. She has been seeing a neurologist since January and after an MRI they did confirm she had an extreme amount of fluid on the frontal lobe. The medical term for this fluid is called Hydrocephalus and is described as an excessive accumulation of fluid on the brain.
This has debilitated many of Susan’s normal daily functions. At the moment, the neurologist has decided that my mom is unable to drive a vehicle due to losing her peripheral vision on the right side. My sister, Ashley, had to quit her job this year so she is able to be home to care for my mother and my niece. The doctor has also expressed that stressful situations will make the symptoms even worse and can damage the brain.
Currently, we are waiting for word on whether the doctor will approve on removing the fluid, either by a shunt, or a spinal tap. However, they are fearful of removing the fluid, because the surgery has a possibility of causing more brain damage. My mom is on a fixed income and the medical bills are flowing in regularly. As the provider of the household, I can barely make it on my own with a $27,000 salary and hardly make ends meet with a family of 4. My mom has a warm heart and has assisted with numerous people in need. Now it is my turn to give back and take care of a woman who would do anything for me. *Susan Mascari: My head is still sore in spots but I slept a lot better... Won't get my results til the 29th. One more test left on the 30th of April then maybe they will have it figured out. Meanwhile everyday I open mailbox there's another bill I owe. Medicare sucks. 24hr Brain Wave Scan 7 days ago. Today I am doing a 24 hour Brainwave Scan, went to get all leads put on this morning, which is very uncomfortable to have medical inbeded in my head. It is hard to sleep. Had a headache and nauseous all day! Can't wait to get it off tomorrow. I Hope it helps the doctor to see how many seizures I have a day.
*Ashley Williams: This has become very scary and came upon us soo quickly and at once. When's it enough? Her mother's battling Cancer, then she gets news of her own horrible issue?!! Please help her get the help she needs!

Yes folks I just recently discovered I have fluid on my brain. I have been having silent seizures and the testing I have been under going is way more than Medicare will pay. Don't feel obligated, but if you do choose to donate Id appreciate it alot! Thank You!
