Trevar's Hospital trip to Mayo, MN

Dear Friends & Family,
Trevar's medical situation has been going on since May when he was diagnosed with Acute Pancreatitis. He's lost over 40lbs. and is in pain daily. Emotionally he is a wreck due to the constant pain, has wanted to end his own life. He doesn't hear from his friends. I know most his age pull back when they don't know what to do. But sometimes they don't realize a simple text or come have lunch with him or a movie would go a long ways. More recently he tested positive for the IGG4 autoimmune pancreatitis. Autoimmune pancreatitis, also called AIP, is a chronic inflammation that is thought to be caused by the body's immune system attacking the pancreas and that responds to steroid therapy.
When his pain escalates and becomes so unbearable we end up in the ER with another copay so he can be given pain meds thru an IV and they rehydrate him as well, then boot him right out after. We've had every test done under the sun, mri's, ultra sounds, scopes, blood work after blood work. Good news is they say no cancer, bad news is they haven't confirmed an exact diagnosis nor cause nor solid plan of treatment. They just started him on steriods the past couple of weeks to treat the inflamation. Thus why they referred us to the Mayo in Rochester, MN where a team of doctors can tackle his situation before it gets any worse. Sadly the Mayo here in Arizona doesn't accept our insurance yet the one in Rochester does. Doesn't make sense to any of us.
This has been very hard on Trevar physically and emotionally, but also very hard on the rest of the family as well as you feel helpless and do the best you can to support him emotionally but sometimes that is super difficult. Nothing worse than not being able to help you adult son, take away his pain and you can only dry his tears.
We have an appointment at the Mayo in Rochester, MN October 26th. We have to arrive by the 25th and they said to plan to spend 5-7 business days leaving us there over the weekend. The Mayo here in Arizona strangely won't take our insurance yet the one in MN does. So now we have the additional expense of airfare, hotel, car rental and more time away from work. I will be traveling with Trevar and Steve will be home with Taylor helping in my absence.
I feel very strange asking for assistance but several of my close friends/family have suggested I setup this account to help. Any amount you are able to donate will go directly towards our expenses for our trip and our ongoing expenses for medical treatment, medicines, therapy and all.
